Amanda M. Yu is a partner at O’Cathain Law Group, in Hackensack, New Jersey, where she specializes exclusively in family and matrimonial law which includes, but is not limited to, spousal and child support, custody, parenting time, and the equitable distribution of assets and liabilities. Amanda also serves as a Parent Coordinator helping parents with co-parenting issues and day-to-day disputes about their children. Although her office is located in Bergen County, Amanda appears before Judges in Bergen, Cape May, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, and Union Counties.

Upon graduation from Fordham University School of Law, Amanda served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Linda E. Mallozzi, J.S.C. in Union County – Family Part. Thereafter, Amanda went on to private practice and continues to handle cases in all stages of litigation and arbitration, as well as mediation.

Amanda also dedicates her time to many professional and community organizations. She currently serves as a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association Family Law Executive Committee, and Acting Associate Managing Editor of the New Jersey Family Lawyer. She is also active within the Bergen County Bar Association as a member of the Family Law and Diversity in the Profession committees. Amanda is also a lifetime member of Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey, Inc. and serves as a member of the Board of Directors. She also remains involved in her alma mater as an Executive Committee Member of the Fordham Alumni Attorneys of Color affinity group and Co-Chair of the Recent Graduate Committee of Fordham University School of Law.

Amanda has lectured before hundreds of attorneys at the annual New Jersey State Bar Association Hot Tips in Family Law seminar and the Fordham Law Bridge the Gap seminar in the area of New Jersey Family Law. She also co-authored an article, The Importance of Cultural Competence in Family Law Matters, which was featured in the New Jersey Family Lawyer publication in 2022.

Amanda was selected as a New Jersey “Rising Star” by the New Jersey Super Lawyer Magazine in 2023 in the area of Family Law. Amanda was also selected by a vote of her peers to be included in Bergen Magazine’s 2022 list of Top Lawyers in the area of matrimonial and family law.

Amanda always brings great energy and enthusiasm to the office. Many of her clients also know of Amanda’s commitment to rescuing and caring for her cats, Mochi and Mooshu, but few will know of her best kept secret – her wonderful singing voice.
